Assalamualaikum & hello everyone!
I know it's been so long since I last posted and I'm sorry for that. I had a very packed foundation year and now I'm back! Yes, my break is almost over already lol.
So, last Thursday, on the 16, I went to OCBC Scholarship IV which was held in Wisma Rubber Lee (it is located right in front of Masjid Jamek LRT Station & also the OCBC building). I went there with my dad hehe.
I arrived an hour earlier than the stated time but yeah the staff in-charge was so friendly and she brought me to another room for me to wait there. I met another applicant there and yeah we had some talk before he was called for the face-to-face interview with the panel judges.
I was told that the longer the IV session is, the better it is because it might means that the judges are interested to know more about you and your life.
So, after some documents-checking session, I was called in (phew it was so nerve-wrecking). I was asked to introduce myself and talk a bit about my family background.
To keep it short, these are among the topics/questions that we had during the session:
1) Mentioning about your past academic results
2) Tell us about your achievements
3) Which university were you got accepted in?
4) You chose this course, why? (As in ny case, I chose & got Science Computer (Information Systems) in UM)
5) Do you really have the passion in this course (that you have chosen)?
-at this point, one of the panel judges began to share his experience of going overseas for some IT seminars/events and said that this field gives you a lot of chances to go overseas, for both technical & marketing roles-
6) Since there is quite no problem in your studies, how about you tell us about any hardships that you have experienced in life?
- I really couldn't think of any because I swear I don't really keep such negative things in my mind for so long. So I told them about some inner conflicts that I always have instead
7) How would you contribute/what would your role be in OCBC (if you're given the opportunity to work with us) / any company with your skills/knowledge in this course later?
8) What do you know about OCBC group?
These are all I could remember for now. I'll update if my memory suddenly freshen up again.
All in all, the atmosphere of the interview was very nice. The judges & staffs were very friendly and smiley which I think has helped me to lift up my mood a bit before my turn for the IV (which explains why I was all bubbly during the IV lmao). Anyway, one cool tip, don't forget to smile & greet everyone there. First impression is the most crucial thing ever.
Also, dress up nicely in a formal office attire. It could help in boosting your confidence if you look nice. Make sure you bring the required documents to avoid any inconvenience later. Take sone good look at the surrounding of the office, I mean, feel that vibe of formality so that you will get used to it once you're in the IV room. Don't be nervous, think before you speak, no need to rush.
Good luck for future applicants. Please pray for my luck to get this scholarship. Al the best!
